The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies was the subject of a short documentary titled "Still Kicking: The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies" which was nominated for an Academy Award. The Follies is a dance and musical review show that plays at the historic Plaza Theatre[1] seasonally from November to mid-May and was founded in 1990 by Riff Markowitz (a television show creator/producer: the cult classic The Hilarious House of Frightenstein and HBO's The Hitchhiker) and Mary Jardin.[2] Markowitz also serves as the show's Managing Director and MC. The show is often credited with helping to revitalize and maintain the downtown area by bringing in patrons from around the globe. The Follies is unique in that it only features performers 55 and older and holds Guinness World Records for this claim to fame.[3]
